Art of Healing First Sundy April 2008 By: Jenny McCampbell [Click here to print article] Much of healing for body and spirit comes through our senses: soothing touches, beautiful sights and sounds, comforting tastes and scents can relax, inspire, and energize. Art is also experienced through our senses. This connection has prompted the Clinton County Arts Council to mount an exhibit called The Art of Healing. The featured works will be selected by the artists, in a variety of media, based on the healing properties they portray or induce. The public is invited to enjoy this beautiful display during the month of April at the Clinton County Arts Gallery, 211 N. Clinton Ave., in downtown St. Johns. The First Sunday Gallery Stop, April 6, 1:00 – 3:00 pm, will feature a presentation by Sheila Gendich, MD. She will speak at 2:00 pm about the healing that comes through the arts as they are experienced through the senses. Included in the presentation will be information on the healing qualities of aromatic oils. Clinton Memorial Hospital, part of the Sparrow Health System, is sponsoring this First Sunday event in conjunction with their theme for 2008: The Art of Healing. The exhibit is made possible through the support of the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts. |
